The Founder of this group became committed to creating this organization in 1997. While attempting to stop an 'out of control' fishing operation from further damaging the marine ecosystem along North West Sulawesi, Indonesia.
After 25 years of globe-trotting with backpacks to some of the most magnificent places on the earth, it hurts to see these places years later with ecosystems that have been irreversibly destroyed by human ignorance and carelessness. Due to such experiences, Robin Marinos finally had to commit himself to the defense of Nature and its creatures, (humans included) who need help and can not defend themselves.

Conferences and exhibitions make up a large part of Robin's agenda... |
What he witnessed here here moved him to abandon his planned leisure and business trip and take action. He spent all the resources available to him, including his money and energy, to oppose a company sanctioned by powerful high ranking Indonesian military generals. In spite of threats against his life, he continued the quest, exposing the truth about this Taiwanese operated joint venture, even though the chances for success seemed very small at this point. With the help of some newly found allies and continued persistence the truth about the operation and its environmental devastation were exposed and the operation was eventually shut down.
This event opened Robin's eyes. He realized the need for an organization that takes action to create awareness and change in environmental policies that affect us all. The existing Environmental Protection Groups and organizations are possibly overburdened with so many problems that they often can't handle new cases. Some have perhaps become too passive due to repeated disappointments.
Since April 1997, Robin has devoted a large portion of his life toward the development of the Earth Advocates organization with unrelenting determination for success. In spite of being a one man show at the start, the successes we have achieved motivate to carry the banner into new battles. To date, Robin has been from Washington DC to Jakarta, visiting many conferences and meetings; from the World Bank to to various governmental ministries to plead his case.

...but his favorite place is in the field taking action – here freeing several Green Sea Turtles |
After thousands of dollars and as many hours spent on fact finding missions at conferences and exhibitions searching for relevant information, possible partners, and various support systems to build an objective and comprehensive understanding of the current condition of the environment, environmental organizations, and international environmental policies – Robin has one conclusion. Our group is necessary! We are committed to spend 80% of our resources on action, not on administration, and we need your help! Don't leave us alone in the Jungle fighting against injustices that inevitably affect all of us. Help us defend and save what we can ! Thank you for your support !
